HB880 by Howard, Charlie (Relating to a sign advertising or identifying a sexually oriented business; providing civil and criminal penalties.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Chapter 47, Business and Commerce Code to prohibit placing or maintaining an outdoor sign advertising or identifying a sexually oriented business, with certain exceptions. A violation would be a Class B misdemeanor. In addition, a violator would be liable to the state for a civil penalty of between $500 and $1,000 for each violation. The attorney general would be authorized to sue to collect the penalty.

The Office of the Attorney General anticipates any additional work as a result of the passage of the bill could be reasonably absorbed with current resources.
