LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 27, 2007

TO:
Honorable John Whitmire, Chair, Senate Committee on Criminal Justice

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB953 by Farabee (Relating to the appointment of the superintendent of juvenile detention facilities in Wichita County.), As Engrossed

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Human Resources Code to change the requirement of who is responsible for appointing the superintendent of each juvenile detention facility in Wichita County. Under current statute, the family court services department administrator is required to make the appointments. The proposed change in statute would place the responsibility with the chief juvenile probation officer.

Local Government Impact

Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
