February 19, 2007

TO:
Honorable Aaron Pena, Chair, House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1042 by Pena (Relating to excepting certain crime victim information from required disclosure under the public information law.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would make certain victim and claimant information held by the Office of the Attorney General’s Crime Victim Compensation Program confidential and eliminates the requirement that a victim elect to allow public access to information held by the agency.

It is assumed that any costs associated with implementation of the bill could be absorbed within the agency’s existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
