TO:
Honorable Jane Nelson, Chair, Senate Committee on Health & Human Services

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1059 by Parker (Relating to an immunization awareness program in certain school districts.) ,As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would direct the State Department of Health Services (DSHS) to prepare a list of immunizations required for admission to public schools and any additional immunizations the Department recommends for school-age children.  The bill would require that the Department prepare the list in English and Spanish and make the list available to school districts in a manner that facilitates posting the list on the district's website.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.

The bill would require school districts that maintain a website to post a list of required and recommended vaccines as well as known health clinics in the district that offer the influenza vaccine.  The bill would also require the list posted on the school district website to include a link to the information posted on the DSHS website regarding procedures for claiming an exemption from immunization requirements.
