LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 22, 2007

TO:
Honorable Rob Eissler, Chair, House Committee on Public Education

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1059 by Parker (relating to an immunization awareness program in certain school districts. ), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would direct the State Department of Health Services to prepare a list of immunizations required for admission to public schools and any additional immunizations the Department recommends for school-age children.  The bill would require that the Department make the list available to school districts in a manner that facilitates posting the list on the district's website.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.

The bill would require school districts that maintain a website to post a list of required and recommended vaccines as well as known health clinics in the district that offer the influenza vaccine.  The bill would exempt school districts from liability for any injury received by a student because of the administration by a district employee or volunteer of a required or recommended vaccine.
