IN RE:
HB1157 by West, George "Buddy" (Relating to student services building fees at The University of Texas of the Permian Basin.), As Passed 2nd House
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
Under provisions of the bill, the University of Texas System may impose on each student enrolled at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin a student services building fee in an amount not to exceed $150 per semester credit hour for each regular semester, $75 per summer session of more than six weeks and $50 for each summer session six weeks or shorter. The amount of the fee cannot be increased from one academic year to the next unless the amount of the increase is approved by a majority vote of the students. The University of Texas System estimates the student services building fee will generate $4,265,749 in auxiliary funds over the next five years. Enrollment increases will generate additional revenue. The student services building fee will be locally assessed by the University of Texas of the Permian Basin.
Local Government Impact
