No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Chapter 614 of the Government Code to prohibit state agencies from making grants or other distributions of appropriated money to certain police officer organizations that: are required to register as lobbyists, employ a lobbyist, provide legal representation to their members, establish or assist a political committee in performing political activities, or make political contributions or expenditures.

The bill would take effect immediately upon enactment, assuming that it received the requisite two-thirds majority votes in both houses of the Legislature. Otherwise, it would take effect September 1, 2007
