The bill would amend Chapter 552, Government Code, to add an exception to disclosure of information that relates to the home address, home telephone number, electronic mail address, social security number, or date of birth of a person licensed to practice law in Texas if the person notifies the State Bar of Texas of the attorney's choice in writing or electronically on a form provided by the State Bar that the person chooses to restrict public access. The notification would remain valid until rescinded in writing or electronically by the person. Documents filed with the county and district clerks would be exempt.
The bill would take effect on September 1, 2007.
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
