The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure relating to the venue for certain crimes regarding insurance fraud. The bill would provide that insurance fraud offenses be prosecuted in counties as proposed in the bill. To the extent the bill would result in fewer cases being prosecuted by the Public Integrity Unit of Travis County, which receives state funding for this purpose, no significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2007.
