April 13, 2007

TO:
Honorable Geanie Morrison, Chair, House Committee on Higher Education

FROM:

IN RE:
HB1349 by Burnam (Relating to a prohibition against institutions of higher education entering into certain contracts regarding the development or production of nuclear weapons.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would prohibit an institution of higher education from entering into a contract with a person to administer, maintain, manage, or operate a facility or program that conducts research or other activity directly related to the development or production of nuclear weapons. Institutions of higher education have indicated that they do not have contracts with any persons directly related to the development or production of nuclear weapons. Therefore there would not be a fiscal impact to the State.
