LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 2, 2007

TO:
Honorable Jane Nelson, Chair, Senate Committee on Health & Human Services

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1373 by Guillen (Relating to creating the Chronic Kidney Disease Task Force.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would establish the Chronic Kidney Disease Task Force. The task force would consist of 13 members appointed by the Governor. The Department of State Health Services (DSHS) would provide administrative support to the task force. It is assumed any administrative costs would be absorbed within the existing budget of DSHS.

The bill would entitle members of the task force to reimbursement for actual and necessary expenses but at the discretion of the department. The bill would authorize the task force to accept gifts and grants or federal and local funds and would require DSHS to investigate potential federal funding. It is assumed revenue from these sources would not be significant.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
