No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
Under provisions of the bill, the University of Texas System may impose on each student enrolled at the University of Texas at Brownsville an intercollegiate athletics fee in an amount not to exceed $5 per semester credit hour. The fee will be imposed beginning in the fall semester of 2008 (Fiscal Year 2009). The University of Texas System estimates the Intercollegiate Athletics Fee will generate $1,495,335 in Fiscal Year 2009 and will continue to increase as enrollment increases generate additional revenue. The Intercollegiate Athletics Fee will be locally assessed by the University of Texas at Brownsville.
