HB1596 by Dutton (Relating to the restoration of certain rights to a criminal defendant.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure, the Election Code, the Government Code and the Probate Code relating to restoration of certain rights to a criminal defendant.  The bill would restore to defendants completing certain conditions as proposed in the bill the right to serve in public elective office, the right to vote, the right to service as a petit juror, and the right to service as an executor or administration of an estate.  To the extent the bill would amend statutory provisions relating to rights of defendants in certain conditions, no significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

 

The bill would be effective September 1, 2007.
