Fiscal Analysis

The bill requires the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) to develop and implement an expedited process for determining eligibility for and enrollment in Medicaid for persons on active duty as a member of the United States armed forces, reserves, or National Guard or of the state military forces, or the spouse or dependent of such a person.

Methodology

HHSC estimates a one-time cost of $3.0 million All Funds, including $1.5 million in General Revenue Funds, to modify automated systems in fiscal year 2008. HHSC indicates that the impact to client services and eligibility determination cannot be determined because the affected population cannot be estimated.

Technology

All estimated costs are for systems modifications in fiscal year 2008.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
