No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would require the owner of a device that looks like a fire hydrant that is located in a place that a fire suppression entity would expect to find a fire hydrant to paint the device black, or under certain circumstances to cover it with a black tarp, if it is a nonfunctioning device. The requirement would not apply if the device is within the jurisdiction of a governmental entity that maintains its own labeling system for such a device.
Local Government Impact
If the owner is a governmental entity other than one excepted by the bill, there would be costs for painting or covering a device. No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
