Honorable Dianne White Delisi, Chair, House Committee on Public Health
FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
HB1739 by Hartnett (Relating to electronic submission of certain information on a death certificate.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would require persons completing medical certification to submit the information and attest to its validity using an electronic process approved by the state registrar. The Department of State Health Services (DSHS) currently operates an electronic death registration system. It is assumed any costs to allow the use of the electronic death registration system by additional medical certifiers and for related customer support would be absorbed within the existing budget of DSHS. It is assumed additional medical certifiers would be provided access to the system over an 18-month time period.
Local Government Impact
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
