LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 26, 2007

TO:
Honorable Royce West, Chair, Senate Committee on Intergovernmental Relations

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1768 by Anchia (Relating to the hours worked during a week by police officers in certain municipalities.), As Engrossed

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Local Government Code to prohibit a police officer in a municipality with a population of more than one million that is not subject to Section 142.0017 of the code and has not adopted Chapter 174 from working more than 40 hours during a calendar week. The bracket would apply only to the City of Dallas.

Local Government Impact

Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
