LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 7, 2007

TO:
Honorable Patrick M. Rose, Chair, House Committee on Human Services

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1785 by Villarreal (Relating to granting variances to certain employer-based child-care facilities from certain standards applicable to licensed child-care facilities.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require that, when granting a variance to an employer-based child-care facility, the Department of Family and Protective Services gives special consideration when the facility provides care for a child who has a parent or guardian working for the employer in the same building in which the child-care facility is located and is away from the building only for limited periods. The Department of Family and Protective Services anticipates any additional work resulting from the passage of the bill could be reasonably absorbed within current resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
