LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 8, 2007

TO:
Honorable Mike Krusee, Chair, House Committee on Transportation

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1857 by Murphy (Relating to the identification and administration of land located in a future transportation corridor of a county.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would authorize the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to enter into cooperative agreements with certain counties for the purpose of identifying future transportation corridors within the counties and establishing plans that reflect these corridors. The bill would require TxDOT to publish notice of the availability of the agreements and corridor plans in the Texas Register and a local newspaper of general circulation in the applicable counties. The bill would also allow counties to require the dedication of land for use as a state highway in accordance with a major thoroughfare plan adopted by the county or the metropolitan planning organization of the region.

Based on the analysis of TxDOT, it is assumed the provisions of the bill would not result in a significant fiscal impact to the state.

The bill would take effect on September 1, 2007.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
