LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 19, 2007

TO:
Honorable Mike Krusee, Chair, House Committee on Transportation

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1947 by Hodge (Relating to the designation of the structure on Interstate 30 connecting the east and west levee of the Trinity River as the Margaret McDermott Bridge.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code to designate a structure on Interstate 30 in the city of Dallas as the Margaret McDermott Bridge. The bill would require the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to design, construct, and erect the appropriate markers indicating the highway number and designation, contingent upon a grant or donation of private funds to cover the associated costs.

Based on the analysis of TxDOT, it is assumed any additional costs or duties associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within the agency's existing resources.

The bill would take effect on September 1, 2007.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
