LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 20, 2007

TO:
Honorable Phil King, Chair, House Committee on Regulated Industries

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB1958 by Ortiz, Jr. (Relating to allowing a customer to interconnect a renewable energy system to a utility's electric transmission and distribution system.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Utilities Code relating to allowing a customer to interconnect a renewable energy system to a utility's electric transmission and distribution system and require the Public Utilities Commission (PUC), by rule, to establish safety, technical, and performance standards for renewable energy systems and the interconnection of a renewable energy system to an electric transmission and distribution system.

Based on the analysis of the PUC, it is assumed that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed within the agency's existing resources.

This bill would take effect September 1, 2007.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
