April 27, 2007

TO:
Honorable Kip Averitt, Chair, Senate Committee on Natural Resources

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2018 by Brown, Betty (Relating to eligibility for a municipal setting designation related to potential impacts to groundwater quality of solid waste activities.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Health and Safety Code by removing the population bracket for requests for a municipal setting designation of property within the corporate limits or extraterritorial jurisdiction of a municipality authorized by statute. The bracket in current statute is a municipality with a population of at least 20,000. The proposed change in statute would result in property in all municipalities becoming eligible for a municipal setting designation related to potential impacts to groundwater quality of solid waste activities.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
