No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code relating to abating or deferring the suspension or revocation of a license issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) for victims of identity theft. The bill would amend Government Code, Chapter 411 which provides procedures for abating or deferring the suspension or revocation of a license issued by DPS for victims of identity theft. The bill would take effect immediately if two-thirds of the House of Representatives and Senate members vote to enact the legislation.  If it does not receive the vote necessary for immediate impact, the bill would take effect on September 1, 2007.

DPS anticipates no significant fiscal impact to the agency.
