No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Occupations and Penal Code relating to the authority of a commissioned security officer to carry certain weapons.

The bill would amend Occupations Code, Section 1702 and Penal Code, Section 46 which would add limitations on who could carry a firearm, where the firearm can be taken, and provide penalties for violations of these sections. This bill would take effect September 1, 2007 and apply only to offenses committed on or after the effective date of the Act.

 The Department of Public Safety anticipates that the bill would have no significant fiscal impact to their agency.


Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
