LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 20, 2007

TO:
Honorable Will Hartnett, Chair, House Committee on Judiciary

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2109 by Puente (Relating to the additional criminal law magistrates in Bexar County.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Local Government Impact

Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government. However, according to the Comptroller of Public Accounts, Bexar County anticipates appointing one or more magistrates at a total annual cost of $118,756 for salary and benefits, per magistrate, with no other new expenses associated with the additions.
