LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 21, 2007

TO:
Honorable Leticia Van de Putte, Chair, Senate Committee on Veteran Affairs & Military Installations

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2130 by Noriega, Rick (Relating to hunting and fishing license fee exemptions for certain members of the armed forces.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Parks and Wildlife Code §42.012 (b) and §46.004(c), to expand the hunting and fishing license fee waiver for active duty personnel of the United States military to the Texas Army National Guard, the Texas Air National Guard, and the Texas State Guard.  According to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, the department currently includes Texas resident active duty National Guard and State Guard personnel as eligible for the free Texas Resident Active Duty Military Super Combo Hunting and All-Water Fishing Package, therefore no significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would take effect immediately with a two-thirds vote of all members, otherwise the bill would take effect September 1, 2007.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
