LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 26, 2007

TO:
Honorable Rob Eissler, Chair, House Committee on Public Education

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2220 by Isett, Carl (Relating to the school funding formulas study group.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The Texas Education Agency assumes for the purpose of this estimate that the school funding formulas study group would hold six, two-day meetings prior to issuing a report of recommendations to the legislature.  The Agency estimates that travel expenses for study group members would total approximately $24,000 for FY2008.  The bill would direct the Agency to provide technical assistance and advice to the group.  The Agency estimates that these technical assistance and advisory activities could be implemented using existing resources.

Under the provisions of the bill, the authorization for the school funding formulas study group would expire early in FY2009.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
