LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 29, 2007

TO:
Honorable Bill Callegari, Chair, House Committee on Government Reform

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2279 by Strama (Relating to the purchase of energy-efficient light bulbs for certain state buildings, public school facilities, and higher education facilities.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require that state agencies, institutions of higher education, and school districts to purchase energy efficient bulbs when replacing light bulbs.  It is assumed that the cost of energy efficient bulbs may have a higher cost and can be absorbed with current resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.  However, the preferences may result in higher costs for a school district, municipality, or county.
