2012 $1,750

Fiscal Analysis

The bill would amend the Transportation Code to require the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to issue specialty license plates for persons who received the Legion of Merit medal. The bill would set issuance fees at $10 for the first set of plates and $15 for each additional set of plates.

The bill would take effect on September 1, 2007.

Methodology

Based on the analysis of TxDOT, it is assumed the issuance of 100 first sets of Legion of Merit license plates at $10 and 50 additional sets at $15, annually, would result in a gain to the State Highway Fund of $1,750 per year. It is assumed any additional costs associated with the issuance of the new plates could be absorbed within the agency's existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
