LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 30, 2007

TO:
Honorable Rob Eissler, Chair, House Committee on Public Education

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2361 by Coleman (Relating to grants for school-based health centers.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would allow the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) to award grants for school-based health centers to nonprofit organizations and governmental entities that collaborate with school districts. School districts are eligible for these grants under current statute. It is assumed DSHS could include nonprofit organizations and governmental entities in the competitive grant process with school districts with no significant fiscal impact to the agency.

Local Government Impact

Governmental entities would be eligible for grants for school-based health centers. It is assumed these grants would not have a significant fiscal impact on local governmental entities.
