LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 3, 2007

TO:
Honorable Mike Krusee, Chair, House Committee on Transportation

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2622 by Ortiz, Jr. (Relating to eligibility of board members of certain rapid transit authorities to receive insurance benefits.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Section 451.519, Transportation Code, regarding eligibility of a board member of a rapid transit authority to be eligible for health or other insurance benefits. The provision would apply only to an authority located in a municipality with a population of less than 300,000. Based on the 2000 U.S. Census, only the City of Corpus Christi meets that criteria. Therefore, the bill would apply only to the Corpus Christi Regional Transit Authority.

Local Government Impact

Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
