LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 26, 2007

TO:
Honorable Mike Krusee, Chair, House Committee on Transportation

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2627 by Murphy (Relating to the requirements for the issuance of certain specialty license plates.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code to decrease the number of presold plates and the amount of the monetary deposit to the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) required for issuing collegiate and professional sports team specialty license plates authorized on or after September 1, 2004, and all specialty license plates authorized on or after January 1, 1999.

Based on the analysis of TxDOT, it is assumed the provisions of the bill would not result in a significant impact to the state.

The bill would take effect on September 1, 2007.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
