HB2644 by Rose (Relating to the licensing and regulation of massage therapists. ), Conference Committee Report

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Occupations Code and the Civil Practice and Remedies Code as it relates to the licensing and regulation of massage therapists.

This cost estimates assumes that the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) could implement the provisions of the bill within existing resources.

Except as provided by section 3 of the bill, the changes to Section 455.156, Occupation Code, would apply only to a license applicant who enrolls in a massage therapist training program for the first time on or after the effective date of the bill.

The change in law made by the bill to Section 455.351, Occupations Code, would apply only to a violation that occurs on or after the effective date of the bill.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2007.

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
