No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Educator Excellence Awards program established in the Texas Education Code, Chapter 21, Subchapter O, to allow districts to spend certain funds awarded through the program on stipends for classroom teachers who have obtained national board certification through the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS).

Local Government Impact

School districts participating in the Educator Excellence Awards program would be permitted to provide stipends to national board certified teachers using certain funds received through the program.
