LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 14, 2007

TO:
Honorable Robert Duncan, Chair, Senate Committee on State Affairs

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2926 by Van Arsdale (Relating to using county election precincts in every county for any election held on the November uniform election date.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Election Code to require all school districts holding an election on the November uniform election date to use the county election precincts as the election precincts. Under current statute, school districts except those within Harris County and counties adjacent to Harris County are already required to use county precincts for a November uniform election; the bill would remove the exception in Harris County and the counties adjacent to it.

Local Government Impact

Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
