LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 2, 2007

TO:
Honorable Joe Deshotel, Chair, House Committee on Economic Development

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3161 by Ortiz, Jr. (Relating to advisory committees that recommend entities receive grants from the Texas Enterprise Fund and the Texas emerging technology fund.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill requires the Governor to appoint an advisory committee to recommend entities to receive Texas Enterprise Fund grants and to ensure that each region of this state is equally represented on the advisory committee. The bill requires that when appointing members to the Texas Emerging Technology Committee the Governor consider whether each region of this state is fairly represented. The bill requires that the Governor may award a Texas Enterprise Fund grant or an Emerging Technology Fund grant only on recommendation of the respective committees. It is estimated that the agency could meet the requirements of the bill using existing resources. Therefore, no significant fiscal impact to the state is anticipated.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
