No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Family Code relating to restrictions on the geographic area in which a conservator must maintain a child's primary residence. The bill would allow a court to modify an order requiring the conservator to maintain the child's primary residence in a specified geographic area if the conservator is unable to find suitable employment for a period of at least a year in the specified geographic area or if the conservator is required to relocate outside the specified geographic area in connection with active military service.

The bill would take effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house. If the bill does not receive the required vote it would take effect September 1, 2007.
