No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code relating to fees, adjustments, corrections, and repairs in connection with a vehicle inspection.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code, Section 548 which states that vehicle inspection stations are entitled to provide motorists with repair estimates if their vehicle fails the Texas compulsory safety inspection or emissions test. The bill states that motorists must approve repairs in advance. The bill states that an inspection station may collect the inspection fee at the time of the original inspection, regardless of whether an inspection certificate is issued at that time. The bill would take effect September 1, 2007.

The Department of Public Safety anticipates no significant fiscal impact to the agency.
