FROM: | John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board |
IN RE: | HB3275 by Miller (Relating to a study regarding the distribution of funds for highway projects.), As Passed 2nd House |
The bill would require the Texas Transportation Commission to conduct a study of the feasibility of prioritizing the distribution of funds to highway projects that enhance federally-designated emergency evacuation routes and determine the sources of funds available for such projects. The bill would also require a the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and the Economic Development and Tourism Division of the Governor's office to conduct a study regarding tourism, general aviation airports, and pilots in a review of the Texas Airport Directory and specifies that the study should consider the use of paid advertising in the directory and reducing or eliminating the fee for the directory.
TxDOT estimates the cost of the feasiblity study would be approximately $250,000. Based on the analysis of TxDOT, it is assumed any costs and duties associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.
