No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill amends the Occupations Code relating to initial and continuing education and training for peace officers and recruits relating to the trafficking of persons.

 

The bill amends Occupations Code, Section 1701 which requires the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE) to develop and provide a continuing peace officer education program for the trafficking of persons.  The bill established processes and procedures for program development. The bill also requires a person who is licensed under subchapter to complete the education and training program no later then December 1, 2011. The bill requires TCLEOSE to develop and make the education and training program available by December 1, 2007. The bill would take effect immediately if it is passed by two-thirds votes of all members of each house. Otherwise, the bill would take effect on September 1, 2007.

 

TCLEOSE does not anticipate significant fiscal impact to their agency from the provisions in the bill.
