LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 22, 2007

TO:
Honorable Tom Craddick, Speaker of the House, House of Representatives

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3350 by Geren (Relating to payment of costs incurred in the operation and administration of the Texas Lottery Commission.), As Passed 2nd House

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

This bill would amend the Government Code relating to payment of costs incurred in the operation and administration of the Texas Lottery Commission (TLC) by amending the authorized uses for money in the state lottery account and requiring the Comptroller of Public Accounts (CPA), with assistance from TLC, the Department of Information Resources (DIR), and the Department of Public Safety (DPS), to conduct a study relating to establishing an internet lottery game program.

Based on the analysis of the CPA, DPS, DIR, and TLC, it is assumed that duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be accomplished by utilizing existing resources.

This bill would take effect September 1, 2007.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
