IN RE:
HB3451 by Smith, Todd (Relating to the eligibility requirements for the renewal of a license to carry a concealed handgun.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Government Code relating to the eligibility requirements for the renewal of a license to carry a concealed handgun.
The bill would amend Government Code, Section 411.185 which would require that a license holder who meets all the eligibility requirements and criteria for license renewal should be entitled to renew the license even if the person has been convicted of a felony offense, but only if the offense was not considered a felony at the time the licensed was originally issued. The bill would take effect immediately if it is passed by two-thirds votes of all members of each house. Otherwise, the bill would take effect on September 1, 2007.
The Department of Public Safety anticipates that the bill would have no significant fiscal impact to their agency.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
