LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 2, 2007

TO:
Honorable Leo Berman, Chair, House Committee on Elections

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3480 by Coleman (Relating to the authority of certain municipalities to impose term limits on the members of their governing bodies.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would add Section 26.047 to Subchapter C of Chapter 26, Local Government Code, regarding term limits in a municipality with a population of 1.8 million or more. Based on the 2000 U.S. census, the bill would apply only to the City of Houston.

Local Government Impact

Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
