LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 6, 2007

TO:
Honorable Kevin Bailey, Chair, House Committee on Urban Affairs

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3586 by Bailey (Relating to the sheriff's department civil service system in certain counties; imposing a criminal penalty.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend certain sections and repeal other sections of the Local Government Code relating to the civil service system for a sheriff's department in certain counties. The changes would result in applying sections that currently affect only Harris County to include Bexar County. The bill would take effect September 1, 2007.

Local Government Impact

Because the bill would not have statewide impact on units of local government of the same type or class, no comment from this office is required by the rules of the House/Senate as to its probable fiscal implication on units of local government.
