No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Family code relating to the waiting period for issuing a decree in certain suits for divorce. The bill would allow a court to waive a waiting period before a divorce is granted if a respondent has been convicted of an offense which included assaulting or threatening the petitioner.  To the extent the bill would amend court procedures relating to waiting periods in divorce decrees, no significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The bill would take immediate effect if the bill receives two-thirds the vote of all members; otherwise, the bill would take effect September 1, 2007.


Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
