LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 6, 2007

TO:
Honorable Patrick M. Rose, Chair, House Committee on Human Services

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3766 by O'Day (Relating to the establishment of a self-determination pilot program by the Department of Aging and Disability Services.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) to establish a pilot program to provide services through a self-determination model in Brazoria and Galveston Counties for up to 50 individuals. Individuals, who are enrolled in the Home and Community-based Services (HCS) program or, through inclusion on the HCS interest list are in the process of enrolling in HCS, would be eligible. DADS assumed that the cost of serving the consumers through the pilot would be covered with existing HCS funds and slots.

It is assumed that any additional work resulting from the passage of the bill could be reasonably absorbed within current resources at the DADS.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
