LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 16, 2007

TO:
Honorable Robert Puente, Chair, House Committee on Natural Resources

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3774 by Puente (Relating to the performance standards for plumbing fixtures sold in this state.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would prohibit the sale, distribution, or importation of a plumbing fixture not certified by a third-party product certification program accredited by the American National Standards Institute. The bill would also require the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) to adopt water saving performance standards for plumbing fixtures. Any increase in workload resulting from passage of the bill is expected to be absorbed within the TCEQ's existing budget.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
