No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

This bill would amend the Educator Excellence Awards program established under Texas Education Code, Chapter 21, Subchapter N to require that at least 80 percent of the employees subject to the minimum salary schedule plus support staff at a campus selected to participate in the Educator Excellence grant program approve campus participation in the plan.  
 
The bill would require the district-level committee for the Educator Excellence program be composed entirely of employees subject to the minimum salary schedule and support staff, with at least two-thirds of the members being classroom teachers.
 
The provisions of the bill would apply beginning with the 2007-2008 school year and are not expected to have any fiscal implications for the state.


Local Government Impact

School districts would be required to have the agreement of at least 80 percent of eligible employees at a campus prior to participation in the Educator Excellence Awards program.
