LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

January 25, 2007

TO:
Honorable Royce West, Chair, Senate Committee on Intergovernmental Relations

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB63 by Zaffirini (Relating to the powers of the commissioners court of certain counties that have no incorporated municipality.), As Introduced

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would authorize additional powers to the commissioners court of a county with a population of more than 5,000 that is located within 100 miles of an international boundary and that contains no incorporated territory of a municiipality. Current statute authorizes those additional powers to the commissioners court of a county with a population of more than 7,500 that is located on an international boundary and that contains no incorporated territory of a municipality. The change in criteria would add counties to those to whom Section 81.033, Local Government Code would apply.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
