FISCAL NOTE, 80TH LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

February 27, 2007

TO:
Honorable Robert Duncan, Chair, Senate Committee on State Affairs

FROM:
John S. O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB90 by Van de Putte (Relating to the establishment of a pilot program to provide a ballot by electronic mail to military personnel serving overseas.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the Secretary of State to implement a pilot program to provide a ballot by electronic mail to military personnel serving oversees not later than July 1, 2008. A county could request to participate in the pilot program, but must receive approval from the Secretary of State.

It is assumed that any additional costs resulting from implementation of the legilation could be absorbed within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

It is assumed that a county would participate in the pilot program developed by the Secretary of State's Office only if funds were available.
